Courtesan’s Choice Herbal Soak is based on a recipe used by the famous French Courtesan, Ninon De Lenclos, to retain her youthful charms into old age. Whether or not this legend is true, I can attest that this blend of bath herbs is rejuvenating. Comfrey root softens and heals skin while thyme and lavender cleanse it because of their antibacterial properties. Plantain eases the itchiness of dry irritated skin and has wonderfully healing properties same as comfrey does. Finally, peppermint is invigorating which makes Courtesan’s Choice herbal soak a great way to unwind.
Directions for the perfect spa experience:
Banish your whole family from your presence.
Pour yourself a glass or mug of your favorite beverage.
Put on your favorite music or revel in complete silence, as you please.
Steep your bath herbs and run your bath.
If you want to recreate a 1930’s style spa treatment be sure to put on clay mask and cucumber slices over your eyes.
Plot your next day of bad-assery.
Directions for using Courtesan’s Choice herbal soak:
Put ¼ of the contents of this container into the re-usable muslin bag, add bag to a pan of boiling water (2 cups is good), cover and let steep for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, draw your bath, then pour the herbal tea into it. Soak yourself for at least fifteen minutes. Alternatively, you can simply add the herb filled muslin bag to your tub and then draw your bath, the tea will be less strong, but still good.
These bath herbs are also great used as a foot soak. Follow the same instructions but instead of adding the tea to your bath, add it to a big pot of hot water and soak your tired feet in it. It will be more concentrated in a smaller amount of water which is great for rough aching feet.
